Sugar Farm Tours
Over the course of our tours, we have endless stories that capture the essence of what it means to be a family of sugar cane farmers. The three hours will fly by as we make sure to include a lot of fun, laughs and information to make the time memorable. The tour is not just about the sugar cane farm, it is also about our experiences: our highs, our lows, our family, and our life. It hasn't always been easy, and we highlight the difficulties and struggles we have been through in our beloved pursuit to help provide food to feed the nation. We love running this tour, welcoming you into our home and giving you a personalised tour you will hopefully remember for years to come.
A key component of our tours is a visit to the old farmhouse, which has been converted into a John Deere Museum – known fondly as The Love Shack. The Love Shack houses an original collection of John Deere memorabilia (hence the farm name Oh Deere). If you'd like to see the John Deere Museum, you can go through by appointment only, please call ahead of time to arrange.

Sunset Tour
Interactive tour including photos and nibbles watching the sunset at the dam wall and love swing.

School Group Tour
The length and focus of the tour depends on school curriculum needs but typically a 3-hour tour including interactive learning, sugar juice tasting, and viewing of the equipment.

Yes, it is in your best interest to book ahead for a tour if you can, although if you turn up you may be able to get on a tour but to make sure you can fit and you’re able to do it whilst staying on site, it would be in your best interest to book if possible.
Yes you can. You need to pre-book and make sure that it’s pre-booked either on our webpage or phone ahead.
Yes absolutely it is. You need to come into our place via the Bruce Highway straight onto Mackenzie‘s Road. Come along Mackenzie‘s Road to Zamparuttis Road and up to our Homestead which is No 71. If you have rung ahead you will be sent a text message that helps you to find us. It is preferable to book ahead so you have the text with directions.
Our full farm tour is a three hour tour which leaves the camp kitchen at 9 am as long as we have enough people. It is not always conducted daily, it depends on what is going on, whether there are enough people and on the weather conditions; if it’s way too wet it can’t happen.
I also do tours with the tourist department and I work with the education department running school tours. For this reason it is best to make sure that you have pre-booked with us.
The farm tour includes a tour around the farm, morning tea and a look through the “Love shack”, which is our memorabilia museum. Of course you also have a cane cutter morning tea and you juice some sugar cane while you watch a drone video that shows everything that happens on the farm so you don’t just have to imagine it.
The sunset tour and the couples’ tour are not quite as in-depth as the main three hour tour which gives all the details of sugarcane farming. The sunset tour allows you to take photos as the sun goes down. There is also a buggy tour probably more suitable for children and for birthday parties. This needs to be booked separately and it is done at a separate time, but it doesn’t give you the in-depth look into the sugar industry. You would need to contact us to get details.
Yes, you can visit the love shack museum only but you need to book it and it would usually be in an afternoon because if I’m running tours in the morning I can’t fit that in as well. It is important that you book ahead separately or when you get here. You can work out with Karinda, on site, when she can fit you in to visit the museum.
Absolutely it is. There are no specific requirements. You don’t have to wear specific shoes. You need to bring a bottle of water with you and if it’s chilly or cool bring a jacket and you’ll also need a hat. We are only outside for short periods, most of the time is spent in the van and in the Love Shack which is set up as a classroom. We definitely can cater for children and guests with limited mobility.

A total fire ban is not usually a problem and if it is wet, I can still do most of the tour. If it is not possible to run the tour I will contact you and either change the date or work something out with you.
No. If I am away or I am busy, the farm tour is not running. However, the camping is always available because someone stays here and looks after the camping for us. If there is no tour it will be listed on our website as unavailable at the moment.
