Here are some questions we get asked a lot.
The Farm
Yes absolutely it is. You need to come into our place via the Bruce Highway straight onto Mackenzie‘s Road. Come along Mackenzie‘s Road to Zamparuttis Road and up to our Homestead which is No 71. If you have rung ahead you will be sent a text message that helps you to find us. It is preferable to book ahead so you have the text with directions.
You certainly can bring a pet but we ask that all pets are kept on a lead. The farm has two border collie dogs that are not on a lead throughout the day because it is their farm however we ask that you keep your pets on a lead at all times and that you clean up after them.
We have full coverage for Telstra and any other mobile phone services as well.
There is no public phone on site but there is good wifi signal to use your own phone.
Yes, we do have a dam on site, not the one you pass as you come up our driveway. There is a dam in the middle of our farm and it is stocked with barramundi but it is fresh water so they don’t taste that good. People staying on site are free to use the dam. We ask that when you catch a fish, give it a kiss, take a photo and throw it back so the next person can do the same. So yes, it is catch-and-release.
Accessibility
Absolutely it is. There are no specific requirements. You don’t have to wear specific shoes. You need to bring a bottle of water with you and if it’s chilly or cool bring a jacket and you’ll also need a hat. We are only outside for short periods, most of the time is spent in the van and in the Love Shack which is set up as a classroom. We definitely can cater for children and guests with limited mobility.
Yes, we have had people come in with mobility issues and haven’t had any issues.
Bookings
Yes, it is in your best interest to book ahead for a tour if you can, although if you turn up you may be able to get on a tour but to make sure you can fit and you’re able to do it whilst staying on site, it would be in your best interest to book if possible.

Yes, you can visit the love shack museum only but you need to book it and it would usually be in an afternoon because if I’m running tours in the morning I can’t fit that in as well. It is important that you book ahead separately or when you get here. You can work out with Karinda, on site, when she can fit you in to visit the museum.
Yes, we do. We have a set price for school groups. If you are interested please contact us via our website and I will get back to you with all the details and help you to book in.
A total fire ban is not usually a problem and if it is wet, I can still do most of the tour. If it is not possible to run the tour I will contact you and either change the date or work something out with you.
If your booking is made online, it needs to be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to your arrival. If you’ve booked directly with us and you want to cancel if you’ve got a good reason I’m going to be happy but if not and it’s within 24 hours you will need to pay because otherwise I’ve kept your site and no one else can come in.
If you come in for seven nights I will give you the eighth night free. There is no maximum length of stay. We don’t have people living here permanently but we are happy to cater for anyone who’s here for a month to 6 weeks.However, if you are staying for a lengthy period of time, we would have to move your van to be out of the way to allow mowing as our lawns are kept very neat.

Our full farm tour is a three hour tour which leaves the camp kitchen at 9 am as long as we have enough people. It is not always conducted daily, it depends on what is going on, whether there are enough people and on the weather conditions; if it’s way too wet it can’t happen.
I also do tours with the tourist department and I work with the education department running school tours. For this reason it is best to make sure that you have pre-booked with us.
The farm tour includes a tour around the farm, morning tea and a look through the “Love shack”, which is our memorabilia museum. Of course you also have a cane cutter morning tea and you juice some sugar cane while you watch a drone video that shows everything that happens on the farm so you don’t just have to imagine it.
The sunset tour and the couples’ tour are not quite as in-depth as the main three hour tour which gives all the details of sugarcane farming. The sunset tour allows you to take photos as the sun goes down. There is also a buggy tour probably more suitable for children and for birthday parties. This needs to be booked separately and it is done at a separate time, but it doesn’t give you the in-depth look into the sugar industry. You would need to contact us to get details.

No. If I am away or I am busy, the farm tour is not running. However, the camping is always available because someone stays here and looks after the camping for us. If there is no tour it will be listed on our website as unavailable at the moment.
Farm Stay Accommodation
Our check-in times are arrival after 11 am and departure by 11 am on departure day.

Campsites can be powered and each powered site is $30 for two adults and two children and includes water and power.
Unpowered sites are available at $24 but can include water if needed as we have plenty of water. Please note that it is bore water.
Yes, we have showers and toilets and a laundry. It is $4 for a wash and $4 for a dry and you can pay that at the office or as you pay any other fees.
Yes we have a big camp kitchen. It has a small oven, a cooktop and a microwave. It has a sink and of course tables and chairs for you to be able to sit and eat or have a chat with fellow campers.

We have a communal fire pit as we don’t allow individual campers to have their own fire. If the conditions are not suitable, either too windy or too wet and we are not able to light it then we will not light a fire. The fire is lit around 5 pm and everyone is welcome to come and have a chat around it.

The Sunday morning pancake breakfast is $7 per head and it happens in the outdoor kitchen. You don’t need to bring anything. The breakfast includes tea, coffee, Milo and all the pancakes you can eat.
The Friday night barbecue, which was previously held at the Bowls Club, is now held on site. We do a $10 burger with the lot for adults and children, but we also do a $3 sausage in bread for children if they would prefer. It happens in the camp kitchen and around the campfire and is available to everybody. If you are going to be here on Friday night for the burgers or on Sunday for the pancakes book as soon as you arrive on site.
Yes, we do have a shop/office which stocks very basic supplies. We have some ice available and some jams and other things that are produced here in our region which you can purchase. We have plenty of John Deere memorabilia and gifts available for purchase as long as I am in the office and it is open.
No, there is not a dump point. The closest one is in Mackay or Proserpine. There is one at Mirani that you can go to but otherwise there is none close by so you would need to do that before coming in.

Camping is close to the Homestead but most people love it. It is surrounded by sugarcane. You have got your own space but you’re also close to the Homestead.
